Anuj Anand IBS Jaipur (’09) has been inspired by Preet Kaur, IBS Hyderabad (’02) who is working as Zonal Marketing Manager with Kotak Mahindra Bank. Preet was featured in Page 3 section of September ‘08 issue of IBSAF World .

It’s very difficult for a woman to choose between their career and family. Unfortunately, If a woman takes time off to care for children or an older parent, employers tend to doubt their commitment. It’s as though their identity is transformed. This circumstance only increases the stress experienced by many women employees. Similar discrimination is experienced by men who take time off or reduce working hours for taking care of the family.

I found a good example of our alumni who is handling the situation perfectly.

Preet Kaur is a 2002 pass out of IBS Hyderabad and is employed with Kotak Mahindra Bank as Zonal Manager. Preet is married to Neeraj Rana who is Vice President with Naukri.com.

She says that in order to manage her dual life she divides the task according to their importance and urgency. This allows her to give a lot of care to the task either official or personal.

In the today’s growing competitive world there is a need to create a balance in between the two because one can excel at work only when he/she is stress free.

We should learn from Preet’s focused approach which has helped her to win over the difficult situation.

Kazi Zoaibuddin J, IBS Ahmedabad (’09) speaks about his teacher, mentor, super senior and more than all of these his friend Biswaroop Padhi, IBS Ahmedabad (’04). His Page 3 was featured in the August ’08 issue of IBSAF World.
I am inspired by my super senior and teacher; Biswaroop Padhi, IBS Ahmedabad (’04) who is the Director of IMS Global Learning Consortium, Ahmedabad.

When our first interaction with him ended, all of us were awed by the way he managed to change not only the way we look at Sales as a profession but also the way we think about it.

We always made sure that we spent enough time with him even after the classes got over. He was more a friend to us than a teacher. We got a lot to learn from his straight forward, outspoken, and aggressive nature.

He taught us that Nothing is Impossible. He taught us the true meaning of working smart.

All credits to him for helping us discover ourselves;

I always remember his words “Make your own way and don’t follow anyone, you are going to be managers or leaders tomorrow so behave like leaders and make others walk your way”.

Lokesh Bhati, IBS Ahmedabad (’09) shares with us the relationship he shares with Tajinder Pal Singh, IBS Ahmedabad (’08) (Teji Bhaiya as he calls him)
This is not a speech, but words for a person with whom I could spend very little time; Tajinder Pal Singh; a jovial and extremely helpful person who you can trust to always be there when you need him.

Looks can be deceptive; and this is what I understood completely once I came closer to Teji Bhaiya. When I met him the first time, he cam across as a very serious person which was proved to be wrong as he was one of the most active members in all of the events at college.

One thing I really want to appreciate about him is his concern and attachment towards his alma mater. We have his guidance for everything. He is always ready to help us despite hisbusy schedules at HDFC Bank.

He has moved to Jalandhar but the memories of the times spent with him will always remain with us life long.

I want to take this opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU to him for all that he has taught us and I just want him to know that WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU TEJI BHAIYA… HATS OFF TO YOU!!!

Divya Chopra, IBS Jaipur (’09) shares her thoughts with us and talks about Manoj Gupta, IBS Ahmedabad (’03) whose funda of ‘simple living and high thinking’ has inspired her the most. Manoj’s Page 3 was featured in the May-June ’08 issue of IBSAF World.
Mr Manoj’s advice to young starters like me is definitely worth going through and practically applicable in life. I was inspired by his philosophy of life which says that ‘one needs to be focused and should have a positive approach; should be adaptable; should be honest towards work and people’.

His encouraging words have made me more focused and dedicated towards my aim. His words “don’t get dejected with short- term failure” are very encouraging.

His qoute says it all “you should always shoot for the moon because even if you miss it you will end up landing in stars”.

I would also like to thank IBSAF to enrich us with encouraging words from our seniors who constantly guide us to achieve our dreams and goals and aim high.

Arijit Deb Roy, IBS Jaipur (’09)

I don’t know any of the alumni featured in Page 3 personally. They have been doing what I desire to do and they live a life which I aspire for. Although all of the seniors featured in Page 3 have inspired me in one way or the other, Venkatesha Babu, Siddarth Kr Routray and Vanitha Dalta are those to whom I woukd like to thank.
Venkatesha Babu,IBS Bangalore (’98), Editor South for Hindustan times has been associated with the print media for more than a decade. He is an efficient juggler who seems to be perfectly balancing his hectic work life which is all full of deadlines and his personal life. To him there is no substitute for hard work. I feel connected to him because of our love for nature.

Sidharth Kumar Routray, IBS Mumbai (’99) inspires me a lot. His zeal of risk taking, innovations and aspiring to be the ‘big boss’ is what is common between the two of us. He left the Indian Military Academy halfway only to take on more challenges. After a brief stint in the corporate world he left a promising and secure career only to set up his own organization “The Payiks” from where he moved on to his dream project, Biosourcing and thus started “Biosourcing.com (P) Ltd.”.

Vanitha Dalta, a silver medalist from IBS Hyderabad (’97) who is always on her toes to fulfill her professional and domestic demands. Being dedicated, systematic and organized are her strong assets for her multi-tasking role in life. I have been totally taken aback by this lady who at present is Director – Finance for Anjani Portland Cement.

Words from all of them have made me think, plan and prepare for my life ahead.
