MOVING TOWARDS A BETTER AND BRIGHTER FUTURE: ALPHA FOUNDATION

Alpha Centre for Learning (ACL)

There are 25 ACLs in Greater Hyderabad comprising 446 students. The total number of ACLs all over India is 96 with student strength of 4,606.

Exclusive Dental Camp at IRS
Exclusive dental checkup camps were conducted at IRS Fateh Nagar and Balanagar where 766 students were screened and 129 were referred for further treatment.

Volunteers Program
A volunteer program designed by the foundation for IBS students in Hyderabad in collaboration with Prof. Harsh Bhargava is expected to commence by this month end.

Program at Keane India Ltd
More than 200 employees participated in the Deepawali celebrations of the company. Several senior officials like Sri. Srinivas Bhimaraju, SVP, Global Practices and Sri Anirbam Chakraborty, Group Manager, The Alpha Foundation participated in the event.

De-worming Program at ACLs
De-worming medicine was administered to 665 students from 13 ACLs in collaboration with CII-Young India.

Alpha Activities in Twin Cities

    Vocational Training Program
    Four courses were completed in the month of October 2008 which benefitted 80 slum girls in Hyderabad.

    Senior Citizens Program (SCP)
     At present, 54 senior citizens are taking part in the program in eight ACL areas.

    Alpha Green Progress Report
     Recycling of waste paper at Hyderabad
    14 departments of Icfai were contacted and material was collected from 5 out of 14 contacted departments.     In the month of October, 1400 kg of waste materials were collected for recycling.

IBSAF Activities for promoting the cause

Children’s Day Celebration by IBSAF Chennai
Children’s Day was celebrated on November 14, 2008 (Children’s Day) at Chennai. Around 100 children of the age group 5-12 years from various ACLs in Chennai participated in the program. Various talent competitions like speech, dance, drawing and fashion were conducted for the children.

The program was sponsored by members of IBSAF at Chennai. Director, Faculty Members, Alumni Members and Staff from IBS, Chennai participated in the event and distributed prizes for the winners.

Diwali Celebration by IBSAF Pune on October 25, 2008
Continuing the great start of the involvement of alumni with the social cause of Alpha Foundation, it was planned to visit the ACLs in Pune, spending some time with the children and distributing sweets to them. Two groups from IBSAF Pune with Alumni members visited 10 ACLs and celebrated Diwali with the children.
