The World would be a happier place if we follow our hearts – Hobbies

Harshal Bhagwat, IBS Mumbai (’02) shares with us his hobbies. He has used over 230 mobile handsets in guess what? Just 36 months… Phew!!! Should try for one of the world record books.

I have a knack of using various handsets with different functionality!! Currently possesses HTC Touch Diamond and Blackberry 8300...which is going to be exchanged very soon with New Nokia N96.

I have used over 230 handsets since past 3 years, that's (approx) 6 handsets in a month... which comes to about a new handset every week and still counting!! I maintain an excel sheet (wish I could have it published here) where i write handset, its type, model number, price and duration used. I have also used handsets where i got it changed within a couple of hours!! Most of you might be wondering wot do i get in changing handsets?? its the review of the handsets which i submit to various magazines and Blogs online!! Its like testing them..using them and writing about them!!

Collection of watches
Along with the Handsets, I have a hobby of collecting watches…as of now I have around 16 different brands that includes Three TAG Heuer ( Micrometer, Carrera and Monaco 69), Baume and Mercier, Raymond Rene, MontBlanc, Rolex and a few Titan models.

Latest Gadgets!!
Hope you all found the snap shots of Nokia N96, Nokia E71 and Sony Ericsson C905 of some use, which featured in last issue IBSAF world.

Finally, 8 megapixel camera phones have arrived in India and are making their presence felt. We now have a whole gamut of 8 megapixel camera phones with different functionalities to rock the world of mobile telephony. Samsung has entered in the market with Innov 8 & M8800, Sony Ericsson with C905 and finally LG KC 910.

The latest and greatest camera phones are head-to-head and pure camera performance is the weapon of choice. There's plenty of ammunition so we're in for one exciting shooting challenge.

So far I just got to use Innov8 and Sony Ericsson c905, here is what I felt about the two, If you are looking for the universal performer, then the Samsung INNOV8 is your definite choice with excellent image results.

Besides first-rate stills, it also delivers VGA video recording 30fps or slow motion QVGA videos at 120fps and has a large display; it’s available in two versions 16GB and 32GB. You need to shell out some Rs.35,000/-(16GB) and Rs.41,000/- (32GB)

If you are after the best camera interface and probably the best camera handling and controls, then Sony Ericsson C905 is the one which will quench your thirst, available now for Rs. 31,000/-

Megapixel Myths
When it comes to choosing a Camera Phone or a Digital camera, one should keep in mind that the megapixel count in no way is the measure of the QUALITY of the picture.

QUALITY is determined by the image sensor, Mega Pixel would determine ONLY how big your image can be and for a user who wishes to post pictures on web and get it printed on an a4 size photo paper would not require more than 3 Megapixel cameras. Besides this just keep your eyes open for basic features like Flash Options (A xenon flash is advisable), red eye flash, self timer, different modes to shoot the photos and in case of digital cameras also look for optical level zoom.

The reason of a hefty price for higher mega pixel camera lies behind the more professional features, like smile detection, face detection, panoramic shots, red eye correction etc.

As for as quality of mobile camera phones is concerned, I have used around 250+ handsets so far and I would depend on Nokia N82 for the best pictures during the normal day hours or even if the lighting conditions are worst its xenon flash is always there to rescue.
