- Tell us about your background and your experience prior to joining IBS
I am a Telecom Engineer who has worked for about 27 years in the army. I voluntarily retired as Colonel in the year 1996 and worked in a couple of corporates handling sales, customer support, operations and training areas. I joined IBS Hyderabad in March 2000.
- Your experience with IBS and post IBS.
Teaching as a profession was not new to me owing to my background in army. However teaching management students was different. I started with the class of 2002 and thereafter never looked back. So much so, teaching management students has now become my passion. My time spent teaching is restricted owing to various other commitments but I always look forward to doing so. I always thank my IBS students, with whom I was associated till the class of 2007.
Post IBS I got busy in establishing a sector specific Business School i.e. Icfai School of HRD in May 2005 which is into the fourth year of operation now. During the transition period I functioned as Dean for both IBS and ISHRD for a year. In addition to my present academic assignment as a Director of ISHRD I also function as Director of Projects executing campus projects all over the country. This way I remain in touch with IBS and am very happy about it.
- Your most creative experience with the students of IBS.
My most creative experience with the students of IBS Hyderabad was when we conducted the first ever management festival called ‘TRISHNA’ at Nizam College grounds (the college where I graduated from) in Hyderabad in Nov 2001. I relished and cherish all the subsequent management and cultural festivals conducted till 2005. They are my memorable moments. I also can never forget the fantastic experience I had with the students of IBS Mumbai who were with me during the International Conference conducted at Taj Lands End, Mumbai in Jan 2005.
- Please share your views on IBSAF and it’s activities
Alumni are the life line for any educational institution, more so for a management institute. I am very happy to learn about the way IBSAF is spreading its tentacles, even across the seas. I keep sharing my excitement with the students whenever I address them on my frequent tours across the country. In short, IBSAF makes me feel proud.
- Share with us on the developments of ICFAI projects across the country.
Hyderabad campus has become a cynosure of all eyes with its massive and elegant size of 15 lakh sft ( alumni please do not forget to see the place during your next visit to the city). We have a network of seven universities under various state legislatures with five of them from the North East itself. We have permanent campuses in Hyderabad, Agartala, Dehradun and Raipur with thousands of students already undergoing various courses in the first three locations. In view of the large response from students, we are going in for phase II construction works in Agartala and Dehradun. In addition, our permanent campuses are coming up in Aizwal (Mizoram), Gangtok (Sikkim), Jaipur (Rajasthan), Bangalore (Karnataka), Baddi(Himachal), Lehra Gagga near Sangrur (Punjab), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Kanpur(UP), to name a few, where we have our own lands. We are in the process of acquiring lands in Shillong(Meghalaya), Dimapur(Nagaland), Ranchi (Jharkhand) Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Pune (Maharashtra) Dewas/Indore (Madhya Pradesh),Coimbatore (Tamilnaidu), Delhi (NCR), Panipat (Haryana) etc, for our campuses.
- Your message to the IBSAF members for success in Life…
To my students, I always said a few things on their farewell i.e to do well in the job and avoid committing mistakes willfully. To be a good citizen and do something for the society you belong to. To help parents and make your alma mater proud of you. I also want the IBSAF members to work for the betterment of the society at large. |
