Sanjeeth Surnella, IBS Hyderabad, Class of 2003 is the younger one of  two siblings and stays with his family in Hyderabad. His wife is an HR  professional. Sanjeeth is a Team Leader – Knowledge Services with UBS,  Hyderabad.

What Sanjeeth took with him when he left IBS, was the habit of appreciating diversity of anything- thoughts / ideas anything. “It gave me an environment where premonitions and thought processes could be challenged, refined and improved upon.”

“IBS was instrumental in giving me the knowledge and skill set required for charting out a successful career. The case study oriented approach was immensely benefitting both during study and initial years of work life. There have been many instances where a real life situation could be related to the situation studied; which was immensely helpful.”

Sanjeeth spent all his college life in Hyderabad and cherishes the moments. Work has taken him to all major Indian and International cities and he is now enjoying coming back to Hyderabad after what he calls “a great learning experience.” Sanjeeth further emphasizes on the importance of working smart and says “Someone would be lucky if he has managed to achieve some degree of success by sticking to either hard or smart work. Personally I think it’s a mix of both, which would be useful to navigate the vagaries of corporate life.” Sanjeeth believes that all goals are a means to an end and not an end in itself. He says “Clarity of thought according to me is the most important thing for achieving ones goals in life. Once you know where you intend to be, it’s only dedication and single minded focus that matters.”

Sanjeeth stresses on self-belief as the key to success. He says that an appropriate mix of technical and soft skills is important in order to evolve into a successful professional. He further says “A leader is judged by the number of ardent followers he has. Some of the important qualities, which I think a leader should possess, include vision, charisma, risk taking capabilities and focus. A leader becomes a successful leader when he is able to identify his team’s strengths and weaknesses and assigns roles accordingly.”

The Alumni Meets organized by IBSAF keep Sanjeeth connected with his friends from IBS. He relaxes by pursuing his hobbies which are cricket (as most of us Indians), travelling, music and spending time with family. He loves travelling to the North-Eastern regions of India. He says that these parts of India have always fascinated him for reasons unknown to him as well. He loves to enjoy the snow capped mountains & mystical surroundings. “The serene, calm, yet electric surroundings provide a perfect combination for unwinding. Notwithstanding the winding roads and treks I still long to go back, after trips various to these places.”
