Me and my family
Born in Assam I spent my early years of childhood in a place called Sibsagar. My father being into a transferable job we have been to myriad places. I have 2 elder brothers working in Delhi and Lucknow and my parents are settled in Baroda. Ever since I completed my PG with IBS I have settled in Ahmedabad along with wife and kid. My wife, Pranita Gupta to whom I got married in 2004, is a M.Sc. in Food and Nutrition and my son, Aarav Gupta is now 5 and half months.
Life after IBS
Having done my MRP with Applitech Solutions, Ahmedabad [a SEI-CMM Level 5 company] during my last semester at IBS I got an opportunity to work with them and started my career in IT industry as an Analyst Programmer. Then after I joined Pentasoft Technologies, Ahmedabad as an Assistant Consultant for their ERP implementation. Since 2002 I have been associated with Gateway TechnoLabs Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad. My career progressed from being a Principal Consultant to the Chief Executive Officer of the company.
High pressure situations….
The need to work with a lot of different clients across the world needs a lot of innovation in approach coupled with poise and confidence. Also having to handle such a load of expectations gives ample opportunity to toughen up mentally. The key to successfully handle situations of different nature is to be able to focus/ defocus as and when required.
Work-home balance….
For the kind of industry that I’m in, it demands a lot from an individual in terms of time, energy and commitment. Work and home balance would not have been possible without the immense support and understanding from my family.
Leisures….
We enjoy going out on vacations and seeing new places. We do make it a point to have a vacation every 6 months. Apart from that we do catch up with new movies every now and then.
Lesson in life..
Commitment and Hard work always pays in the long run.
Friends @ IBS……..
I have been in touch with my batch mates ever since we passed out from IBS in 2000. I am still in touch with lot of my batch mates in the city. We always make it a point to attend the alumni meets and have regular get-togethers.
Advice to youngsters……….
My continued association with IBS has resulted in a transformation of my inherent instincts and innovative strategic insight to create a resolute career focus helping me scale newer heights in my career. It has prodded me to create an attitude to analyze and resolve situations and raise my bar of performance. My advice to my fellow alumni would be to be associated with their alma-mater and pursue their careers through hard work, sincerity and perseverance. I would like to advice not to value your job/ career by only fat pay checks that would come along with it but also by the learning value and work satisfaction that is associated with it.
