Alumni at Ahmedabad have been having lots of fun
with series of day and night cricket matches, garba nite and alumni
meet. They re-lived the moments of fun on 9th of December. The popular
and rich folk dance, garba, saw faculty members, alumni and students
coming together to celebrate the occasion. The alumni meet on 9th
saw the same enthusiasm with the alumni enjoying and celebrating
with fellow alumni and students. They also shared their experiences
and prepared the current students for the corporate world.

Bhubaneswar
Students at IBS Bhubaneswar participated in a number
of activities like Fashion show organized by the Xavier’s
Institute of Management, writing competition organized by AMITY
Business School, a seminar on “Emerging Opportunities in the
Insurance Sector”, Interaction with delegates from TCS.
The month of November saw the formation of Student’s
council.

and 61% of the students have been placed in various sectors of the
industry in IBS - Bhubaneswar. The highest salary is Rs. 4.25 lakhs
p.a. The recruiters list comprises of Centurion Bank of Punjab,
ICICI Prudential Life, Kotak, Motilal Securities, Standard Chartered
Bank etc.
Bangalore
The alumni at Bangalore enjoyed to the fullest in
the alumni meet on 18th November 2006. The event saw students and
alumni standing on the same platform to reiterate their commitment
to strengthen the network. The Director Prof. T.R.Venkatesh together
with other faculty members interacted with the alumni and shared
ideas and views to make the alumni community stronger. Mr. Anil
Francis Rego, Alumnus class of 1997 and few other Alumni addressed
the meeting about various aspects of life of the students.

industry already recruiting more than 62% of the students; some
of them are D E Shaw, Citigroup Global Services, IDBI Bank, Oracle,

p.a.
Chennai
Fourth Chapter Executive Committee Meeting of IBSAF,
Chennai was held on 28th October. The discussion revolved around
making the alumni community stronger and further reinforcing networking
ties among the alumni. The members also put their experiences @
IBS Chennai on paper for wannabe MBAs.
IBS Chennai has shifted to its new premises at Harini
Towers, No.7, Conransmith Road, Gopalapuram, Chennai 600 086. The
new premise is well equipped with state-of art facilities which
would do any B-School proud.
The current crop of IBS- Chennai students has brought many laurels
to the institute, winning prizes like first and second prize for
the Stock Market, Super Selector and Adzap contest organised by
IBS, Mumbai, Overall Best performance at “Perception –
2006”, organised by Ramaiah Institute of Management, first
prize in “All India Business Plan” contest organised
by Raja Lakshmi Engineering College, Chennai., first and second
prize in the IT, Marketing & HR Event organized at Christ College
Institute of Management.
The students undertook a trekking expedition to Yelagiri Hills on
3 – 4, Nov’06, to handle stress and also build environmental
consciousness.

Chandigarh
The alumni at Chandigarh saw the inauguration of
their chapter on 14th October 2006. The occasion was marked by formal
launch of the chapter by Mr. Arvind Sharma, DGM, RBI Chandigarh.
He also spoke on the growth opportunities in today’s financial
market. Mr. Gajendra Nagpal, MD Unicon Financial Services shared
the need and importance of analytical skills and the matured personality
traits to survive and do well in the dynamic and vibrant business
environment. Mr. Raghab Prasad Panda welcomed the alumni into the
9600 strong fraternity and shared with them, the activities of the
federation.
Other events at the chapter include: Club Meet on 28th October aimed
at building team spirit and camaraderie among students. A conference
on Banking and Investment was organized on 16th November to make
students aware of the opportunities in finance.
Spark 2006, a talent search event was organized
on 18th November 2006.
The environment club organized Van Mahotsav on 18th November and
planted saplings under the guidance of Mr. Vijay Kiran, Pr. Sec
Water Sanitation Department, Chandigarh who also addressed the students
on the need for conservation and proper waste management.
Conference on “Strategic HR – bridging skill gaps”
took place on 24th and 25th November 2006.

has started on a positive note and with almost 60% students placed
already, is all set to achieve 100% in no time. Highest salary went
up to 4.25 lakhs p.a with HCL Technologies, Pipal Research, ICICI
Bank, ICICI Prudential Life and Kotak taking part in the placements
and many more confirming their participation.
Dehradun
Students at IBS Dehradun got a feel of the corporate
world by way of guest lectures conducted by alumni. Mr. Saurabh
Ghosh, Regional Manager, ICICI Bank enlightened the students on
careers in Banking. Mr. SPS Oberoi, Chief Manager, UTI Mutual Funds
spoke on The Mutual Funds market in India. Growth and career opportunities
in the Financial Services sector were highlighted by Ms. Anjali
Malvankar, District Manager, Citi Financials. Mr. Gagan Chaturvedi,
Relationship Manager and Mr. Milton Chakma, Territory Manager from
Ceat Ltd. Shared the product lines and Marketing strategies of Ceat
Tyres. Mr. Abhishek Jain, Sr. Officer, IDBI Bank shared the opportunities
IDBI Bank holds for the students. A brief on Capital Market and
D/P Operation was given by Mr. Ajay Chauhan, Area Manager, Stock
Holding Corporation.

Gurgaon
IBS-Gurgaon shifted to its new Campus in Palam Vihar,
Gurgaon in October 2006, located on an 8100 square meters area in
close proximity to the old IDPL location with 6 floors, seminar
halls and auditorium.
IBS- Gurgaon organized a Blood Donation Camp at IBS-G campus on
1 September, 2006 in which more than 150 Students donated blood.
Teachers Day was celebrated with several cultural events along with
the high tea for the teachers and the students.
Diwali celebrations saw the students getting together
to decorate the campus with flowers, colourful rangolis, bandarwars
and diyas.
An Intra College Marketing Quiz was organized on
28 October, 2006 which saw participation from all students of IBS-G.
Students at IBS Gurgaon won three 2nd prizes in
various events Tatva 2006 organized by LBS College, Delhi on 24

IBS Hyderabad has shifted to a new campus at Donthanpally.
The campus is spread over 100 acres. The academic block consists
of air-conditioned classrooms, conference halls, computer center,
learning center, faculty lounge etc. Phase I is complete and construction
for Phase II is in full swing.

on a very encouraging note with more than 71% of the students already
placed and many more companies more than willing to participate
for the final placements. Highest salary went up to Rs. 9.00 lakhs
p.a. The major recruiters are Accenture, BPCL, CB Richard Ellis,
Cognizant, Google, ICICI Bank, Karvy, Nestle, Satyam & TCS.
Indore
The IBSAF Chapter at Indore was inaugurated on 2nd
September 2006 by Ms. Akanksha Rathi, Director Marketing Rathi Steel
and Industries. She shared her experiences and ideas with the alumni
and students. Guest of honor, Mr. Raj Kirtani, MD Gajra Differential
gears emphasized on networking, learning from each other and the
importance of gathering information on new trends and technologies.
Strength of the alumni fraternity was highlighted by Mr. Raghab
Prasad Panda, Manager IBSAF. He also informed alumni about the various
activities of the fraternity and shared with them, the importance
of strengthening it.

The alumni at Jaipur saw the inauguration of their
chapter on 4th November 2006. Alumni from various centers graced
the occasion. It started with a welcome note by Dr. J N Dhankar,
followed by a brief introduction of IBSAF and its activities by
Mr. Raghab Prasad Panda, Manager IBSAF. The alumni shared their
experiences in the corporate world and were full of ideas for making
the federation stronger. Noticeable was the rich diversity of the
9600 strong alumni community.
