Paromita has been running her own show for the past six years now and has offices across the country. The HO is in Dalhousie, Kolkata. At the time of the interview, Paromita invited all of us to have a look at her company website www.candidcommunication.net. So that’s something for you to do folks!!!

Paromita met her husband, Shiv, on the IBS premises on her very first day at college in May 2000 and a romantic saga began. After a courtship of five years and subsequent marriage of nearly 3 years, Paromita is thankful to IBS for giving them the opportunity to bump into each other. Hmmm!!! That’s something to be grateful for!!
Shiv is working with Genpact for just over a year now and his office is in Rajarhat. Prior to his stint with Genpact, he was involved in his family business.
IBS holds a special place in Paromita’s heart as the institute not only gave her a sense of direction but the faculty members like Prof. Santanu Ray, Prof. Arup Chowdhury and Prof. Atish Chattopadhyay have always been her pillars of strength in her most difficult times, personal and professional alike. It had been the time of her life when all her three mentors came to bless them on their wedding on November 2005.
“At IBS we were not merely given lectures but were urged to get a more practical view of things. Presentations, on the job trainings, research reports, newsletters, participation in various inter-B-school events and interactions with corporate guests were a regular affair with us. This is what helped us get an all round development and paved way for our subsequent personality development. It certainly feels great when I read about the IBS in the papers and it gives us immense pleasure to see our dear old IBS grow from strength to strength. I wish the best to IBS and all of you!”

Life after IBS had not been very difficult for Paromita on the job front. IBS had already trained her to meet the challenges head on. All the projects that they were made to undertake were a clincher for her future career pursuit. However, Paromita was ready for any industry as she graduated though she was marketing major. And she ended up with 4 excellent projects too with the likes of Reliance Infocom, ITC Limited, ICICI Capital Services and finally All India Technologies. Shiv also too took up two projects, one with ICICI Capital Services and one with his family business. These multifaceted projects gave a sense of direction and by the end of the course they were ready to meet the corporate challenges. Paromita says that these projects “also rendered us more confident to face interviews and GDs”.
Moving on to lighter planes Paromita says that some of her best friends are from IBS and she is very much in touch with them. Subhankar Dutta (Deloitte, Bangalore); Somdatta Chakraborty (Sengupta), who is married and settled in US; Soumitra Dasgupta (ICC, Kolkata); Hari Shankar Dubey and Taqui Ahtar Siddiqui (with HSBC in Kolkata) especially are her friends for life.

Paromita’s advice to fellow alumni: “I will urge all the students to take your projects very seriously and not look at it as an extended holiday. This is your opportunity to feel the corporate challenge as a student and trust me if taken seriously, it can make your career. Also undertake as many case studies as possible as it will help you to develop have analytical skills and an in-depth perception.”
