Imperia Client Relationship Manager

HDFC Bank

About me …

I am a very systematic person. I am always open to new ideas. I like to take new challenges. I love balancing work and personal life, giving equal importance to both. My father and my husband are bankers. My sister is software professional and my mother is a homemaker.

About my current job profile …

Currently I am working as Imperia Client Relationship Manager (ICRM) – handling the high end of the HNI Customers of HDFC Bank. I am responsible for enhancing the relationship with the customer through customer service and better penetration of the bank’s products to the customer. My job is to improve customers’ attachment to the bank. I have been with HDFC in this profile for 4 years now.

My career graph post IBS…

I joined Retail when I passed out of IBS. Then I took a complete shift to banking and joined HDFC as a Personal banker and have continued with this organization. Since then, this organization has taught me almost everything that I know in the field of banking today. Today I am a Senior Manager there handling the Imperia Clients.

Handling high pressure situation…

When you deal with other people’s money, everyday would be a high pressure environment. When you deal with customers and put them above everything else, you automatically arrive at solutions.

Balancing work and family …

My family has been supportive all the way. It would sound, nothing less than dramatic, if I say, I spend maximum time with my husband in the car, during travel time (a little more than 3 hours everyday). My in-laws and my parents have been there for me to rely on always when it came to taking care of my one year old. My husband has been more than supportive in my career and has been a good friend all through. He is really someone whom I have always almost taken for granted. We ensure we spend enough time with our daughter everyday after work and on weekends. Call me one of the lucky ones!

My idea of relaxation …

Spending time with my husband and my daughter is the best stress buster in my life. I also have my days of rejuvenations through some soothing massages.

My biggest lesson in life …

Professionally — The longer you stay in an organization, you enjoy more and then you no longer work for the organization, you work with it.
Personally — You often realize something is too precious only when you loose it.

IBS has been doing a phenomenal job in not only educating its students but also in taking immense care in spreading the recognition. Today, you can find an IBS-ian in almost all the top companies of the country. I must add that I am proud to have been a part of the IBS family.

The markets look lucrative and the surge has not been the result of any abnormal movements, but powered by fundamentals which are strong and which promises an investor a good return on his investment in the long run. The next 5-7 years might turn out to be golden years which will go down in history.

We would soon be witnessing a seamless banking across all banks. We might also witness a few more mergers, which will be governed by the RBI guidelines on mergers and acquisitions. These might take place in compliance with minimum net worth requirement.

Customer service has gained prominence across all banks and customer grievance redressal cells enable in ensuring a better customer service. Resource limitation, experienced by low income households, continues to restrain their access to the financial products and the challenge lies in developing policies or products that will overcome this difficulty.

My friends and batch-mates at IBS...

I am connected to them through alumni meets (occasionally) and through mails or calls.

My advice to fellow alumni …

It will not be a rosy ground, but if you are ready to give it your all, you can be rest assured that it will pay you. Keeping yourself abreast with the finance sector goes a long way in helping you.
