IBS Mumbai launches The IBS Venture Academy (Capital Workshop) |
| IBS Mumbai had arranged a workshop in collaboration with School of Entrepreneurship and Business (SEB), University of Essex, UK to launch IBS Venture Academy on March 7th, 2008. The workshop was organized at the new campus at Hiranandani Complex, Powai, Mumbai. This objectives of the academy are to:
1. Develop entrepreneurial skills among the aspiring and budding entrepreneurs and
2. Assist them in setting up their ventures
This workshop was special as it was the first initiative taken by any management institute in Mumbai towards developing, motivating and teaching entrepreneurial skills to the aspiring businesspersons.

The Senior Advisor and the Campus Head of IBS, Mumbai, Prof. Y K Bhushan welcomed Prof. (Dr.) Mitra, Head of SEB, Essex University and extended his greetings to the entrepreneurs and the CEOs of various Venture Capital Firms to the workshop. He said that in a growing economy like India, there are tremendous scopes for setting up ventures in areas like IT, retail, automobile, bio technology sectors and service sectors. The young, enthusiastic and committed group of people will benefit from the Academy by having the opportunity of experience- sharing with the other entrepreneurs, as well as investors and academia.
Dr. Mitra briefed the audience about SEB’s very successful association with the Venture Academy at the UK. He said that this collaboration will provide support and assistance to IBS – Mumbai to design training programs for aspiring entrepreneurs and also help them access the network of Angel Investors in UK who are interested to investment in new ventures in India.

and Mr. Prabhakar, General Manager, Bank of Baroda also appreciated this innovative move. Some of the aspiring entrepreneurs further appreciated this charismatic initiative by the IBS – Mumbai and mentioned that this academy would be of great help to them.
The seminar was followed by a Social Entrepreneurship Workshop which was graced by Mr. John Bird, a renowned social entrepreneur and founder of Big Issue. He reflected on issues of poverty across the world and the need to address it, with special emphasis on child education. Presentations on social entrepreneurship were made by Mr. Rajan Dutta, Head HR, Lupin Pharma; Mr. Ramanathan, CGM - Micro Credit, NABARD; Dr. Dinakara Rao, Alpha Foundation and Mr. J. K. Babla, Miku Agencies.
