“Ours is a small three member family with lots of harmony and understanding. - My wife, our 11 years son and myself. My wife is an M Phil in Economics, currently employed as a teacher in Maharishi School in Hosur. Simultaneously, she is pursuing her PhD in Economics. We are proud of each other for whatever we are. My son, Naveen, is fascinated about Space Science, Satellites, Supersonic Jets, Air planes and things like that. I learn many things from him about science and astronomy. Like every family lives with contradictions, my wife wants him to become a ranker and I want him to be a good and sensible human being- the world is short of good people.”

D K (as he is fondly called among his friends) found time from his hectic schedule for the IBS Admissions 2008 process and was of the opinion “To come back to campus in a changed role is one of the many good things to have happened to me. Remember; not too many good things happen in life. It was a reversal of roles and certainly a great experience. Many reasons to feel proud of the institution as well as a sense of responsibility and volunteering to contribute in every possible way in furthering the good work. The care and hospitality extended by IBSAF was exemplary.”

“The inputs and learning received during MBA at IBS have definitely widened my perspective of how businesses are conducted under different conditions in my professional life. Personally for me, unlearning was part of the process. It has also helped me in developing the strategic thinking capability. I had taken the decision of doing MBA in mid -career as an investment for the future rather than with an objective of having a quick jump. I never viewed from that angle. I think it is paying off now.”

Solutions Providing Enterprise…in the next 10 years… Competitiveness and clustering of specialized solutions offering will be the key for the organizations in the future. Customer demands are becoming more and more exacting with quicker deliveries being given more emphasis. Stand-alone specialists will tend to lose their edge slowly. Each organization has its own core competency and providing total solution by an enterprise will call for alignment of several core competencies within the cluster.
IBS - now Vs then…. What we had seen and what it is now, there is a complete change. Infrastructure, student facilities and quality of faculty apart from the ranking are some of the visible changes. There is lot of visibility and recognition for IBS and IBS students today in the market.
I think the unique pedagogy and quality study materials are some of the important factors. The option of doing CFA along with PGDBA also has helped in the long run. Quality faculty members both from in-house and industry have definitely added to the credibility. And most importantly, the clarity of purpose, humility and perseverance of the founding fathers. I am sure; IBS in coming years will become one of the hubs of management education in the country. The initiatives taken by Alpha Foundation are also commendable. I will be keen to be associated and do some work for the Alpha Foundation.
Experience with IBSAF.. My experience with IBSAF has been mixed except in the recent past. . Quite naturally so because I believe, it is a two way process. Recently, IBSAF has been more active and responsible in its role. This is a good sign and I am sure, all of us will have many more occasions to share the experiences.
One thing that IBSAF can do to make your experience better…
Networking for mutual benefit is the key. Being in constant touch with the alumnus and institution in one way or the other can be one of the best experiences. For example, organizing MDPs/workshops in specialized areas will be one thing that can be thought of.
I have few words for the new comers and younger Alumni of IBS

? Make mistakes along the way
