M.R. Rajesh, IBS Gurgaon (’97), works with Credence Analytics as Associate Director - Business Development.

ìI have been with Credence
Analytics, an investment technology solutions company, for the past eight years. Prior to this, I had worked in FMCG companies and decided to switch to a financial domainfocussed company which is close to ëSecurities and Portfolio Managementí with focus on areas like Treasury, Investment, Market Risk Management Operations. I have grown with the company. I joined Credence in 2000 as a Marketing Manager and now head the sales function as Associate Director.”
Rajesh has a sweet family of three and loves Mumbai..“I have decided to settle in Mumbai. Ours is a nuclear family, my wife and son. Sarita, my wife, works for Mafoi Management Consultants as Business Head of Financial Services Vertical and my son Samir, is 6 years old, goes to AVM School, Bandra East, Mumbai”. His idea of a perfect life contrary to what many in today’s world would agree is to “Live by the day, you get what you deserve”
“Looking back to his IBS Days, Rajesh says… “I belong to the first batch of IBS. The things I fondly remember are my batch mates, most of them were well accomplished, and usually who had worked for few years in the industry and joined IBS to learn more on finance. Most of the batch did CFA as well and took education seriously. In spite of limited infrastructure, the faculty members, both internal and guest lecturers from industry did a great job in providing practical insights of industry with the help of case studies. I still remember a session from one of the faculty members Mr. Sanjeev Kaul (an LSE alumni, with his Portfolio Management Practice in New Delhi), explaining to us how so many companies are valued lower than what they actually "have in the till" in the Indian stock markets.” Life after IBS has been “wonderful with lot of excitement. My initial jobs took me all around India. I have travelled most parts of India in the FMCG business. The current job takes me to South Asia, Middle East, and South East Asia.”

Family… “Fortunately for me, I have got a job which allows the work-home balance. Most of the days I have dinner with my family, watch TV, on weekends we go out on dinner, and once a while to movies and gaming zones. My son Samir is my greatest stress buster, I play with him, tell bedtime stories, watch children's movies/cartoons.. it gives me immense satisfaction.
Hobbies..
“I enjoy cycling and going to the gym. Everyday morning I go for a work-out and once in a week go cycling in my mountain bike"
High pressure and hectic schedules don’t worry Rajesh at all. He says “I thrive in high pressure. Once under a pressure situation, my boss mentioned “I wish I am as cool as you".
Biggest Lesson.. Life is too short and precious, enjoy yourselves. Adaptability to situations, recognizing team's contribution, managing both success and failures, enjoying your work will lead to success
Advice to the young students Develop expertise in a domain (of your choice) along with marketing. Don't believe in things like “I can sell refrigerator to Eskimos”, it doesn't work. There is no place for generalists, only specialists. In your first job, don't look for money; look for job satisfaction and look for jobs which in sync with your long term goals. Money will follow.
Friends…
I am connected with few of my close friends who are in Mumbai. Batchmates outside Mumbai do call up when they visit Mumbai or vice versa. We do exchange mails with friends outside. I also visit IBS campuses to hire sales and research team executives. Past few years I am visiting IBS Ahmedabad.
Future…
I Would like to establish my company as a "Global firm" providing investment management solutions to companies across the globe.
