Mr. Arghaya Palit,
IBS Hyderabad ('01)
SAI Global Ltd.
Business Development Manager
|
|
His parents are Mr. Alok Palit, Managing Director of New Central Jute Mills and Dr. Smita Palit, a lecturer in Presidency College, Kolkata.
SAI Global, an applied information services company, helps organizations manage risk, achieve compliance and drive business improvement. Arghaya plays an integral role by establishing and managing SAI Global’s compliance business in India.
Prior to his present profile, Arghaya worked with Oracle India for more 3.5 years, in the capacity of a Key Account Manger, managing strategic accounts in South India for applications training business. He had his share of experience in the phenomenal growth path of Icfai – PDD in Hyderabad, taking care of promotions and business development. He has also worked for Satyam Computers in the field of e-learning.
When asked his opinion about the future of IT sector in India and abroad, Arghaya replies, “Innovation & Acquisitions shall be the focus for the next five years. The industry shall mature with M&A being the major focus for companies to build on strength and customer base. The Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC) space shall be the next big market in India. |
| “My biggest lesson is that you need not be Extraordinary to be Successful. To be successful, you need to have the right Attitude. Skills and Knowledge shall follow with experience. You just need to be at the Right place at the Right time.” |
| India, which is being recognized as a global vendor, and an outsourcing hub, will require companies to understand the regulatory requirements, be compliant and manage risks to stay ahead in the competition. Globally the market today is maturing and research predicts it to grow to about US$1.3 Billion by 2011.” |
| “I married Aditi in 2004. She is a Soft Skills Trainer at IBM India. She is my best friend and biggest critic. We both inspire each other to achieve professionally and to make our life and future a memorable one.” |

With his career now progressing steadily, Arghaya, who is commonly known as Palit in the industry circle, (as it is difficult to pronounce his first name) is now happy with the present state of affairs. Working with Satyam, Icfai, Oracle and SAI Global has contributed immensely to develop his attitude skills, network and knowledge which will always propel him forward. One of the other things that always help him to stay focused is his mantra of having an organized and structured approach. He has always been able to deliver in the face of challenge, be it meeting customer satisfaction, organization objective or delivery pressure, due to these mantras. These are also his secrets to maintain the perfect balance between professional and personal life. He says, “If you are organized and structured, I am sure the time you spent in the office is enough to finish your work. I avoid carrying work back to home. I try to give 100% to the family in the weekend.”This adage certainly helps him to keep his close-knit family happy as his favorite time-pass, cooking, is liked and enjoyed by everyone in the family. Arghaya loves to cook new dishes, new recipes to de-stress & relax. Writing Blogs and listening to good music are his others ways of relaxation.
When Page 3 appreciated his regular initiative of attending the IBSAF events, he answered, “Being in Sales, I know the value of networking. I am very well connected with my IBS friends. I am the moderator of IBS Hyderabad Yahoo groups, which we started in college. We have 87 members from our batch in the group. I use social networking sites to network with my old friends, make new business contacts and utilize the power of networking to my advantage.” Arghaya advises his fellow alumni in the same line as well. He urges them to realize the importance of networking. He says, “If you need to be in Sales & Business Development profession, networking is the key to your success.”
Amen to that!! ◊
