About WES
Established in 1974, WES is the largest international credential evaluation service in the United States and Canada. WES is headquartered in New York City.

In year 2004, WES processed over 50,000 evaluations from more than 150 countries and provided reports to 2,300 institutions of higher education in the United States and Canada.
WES works with individual applicants as well as with educational institutions, attorneys, businesses, and licensing agencies providing credential evaluations for:
- University admission and placement
- Employment
- Professional licensing and certification
- Immigration
WES conducts extensive research on education systems and evaluation methodology, and prides itself on being a global network of accurate and up-to-date information on international higher education. In addition, WES staff is available to assist other organizations and institutions with their international education research needs.
WES maintains a state-of-the-art credential evaluation database, known as AICES, which currently stores information on 45,075 foreign academic institutions, 214 countries and jurisdictions, 19,776 credentials, and 1,541 grading scales. The AICES and online application systems have enabled WES to more effectively and more efficiently fulfill its mission to service greater numbers of applicants and to efficiently deliver a quality product.
In addition to credential evaluations, WES fulfills its mission by providing training workshops for admissions professionals. Each year WES schedules a nation-wide series of one- and two-day workshops for professionals in international education.
WES also offers a variety of online education resources through its Web site. These include the WES Grade Conversion Guide, which features suggested grade conversions for higher education in more than 120 countries, and World Education Profiles.
WES also publishes World Education News & Reviews (WENR), the definitive news source on comparative international education. With a growing readership of more than 6,000, WENR features articles, news and information geared towards higher education professionals.
